Have you signed the Voters' Pledge for peace? "I will not vote for or support any candidate for Congress or President who does not make a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and preventing any future war of aggression, a public position in his or her campaign."
Hmm, technically speaking *I* could sign this pledge in fairly good conscience if running for Congress! After all, I definitely favor a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and am just as firmly committed to preventing future "war(s) of aggression." (I say in "fairly" good conscience only because I realize the possibility of my words being misinterpreted would be strong, even though I would of course publicly explain my reasoning if I signed.) Could it be that the "Voters Pledge for peace" does not really say what you would like it to say?
Can you give me an example of a war that you feel is not a "war of
aggression". If you cannot, then the term is redundant and exists
only to stir up emotions.
Derek,
There's much aggression from many quarters in Iraq, including from
the US military.
Best, Michael
