I love the idea of an outdoor gathering, which is why I organized the
picnic in '03 (it's been a while!).

I do not love the idea of moving the meetings. While newcomers checking
the Web site or phone messages might be aware of the change, our
semiregulars may well not bother, since they know where the meetings have
been every single month for the last several years. Moreover, contingency
plans in case of inclement weather are difficult to arrange.

We should have another picnic. We should not move the meetings.

IMO,
Chris

Chris,

We've sometimes skipped December meetings in the past (not a decision
I was entirely happy with) with less fuss than this suggestion has
generated. Why is it easier to cancel an event than to change it to
something better? If we establish a regular schedule of meeting
outdoors every August and September, people will come to expect it. In
the meantime, I am willing to personally call everyone who has come to
an LPSF meeting in the past few years who is not on this list and let
them know of the change, if that would ease objections.

Yours in liberty,

I don’t think that was a very good idea, and I can’t remember it happening
in my time. (I remember Dave Molony starting a holiday party precedent,
which I tried to continue.)

Starchild,

Thanks for your enthusiam and offer to call members if an outdoor
meeting is scheduled. As I indicated in a previous e-mail on the
subject, I would only be in favor of changing the meeting venue if a
significant number of the loyal regulars voted in favor. So far the
only votes besides yours have been "No" (Chris, Derek, Michael E.,
and now me, because I feel three "No's" from regulars needs to be
taken into account). Perhaps Mike Acree voted "No" also, but I do not
recall for sure.

I suggest we stick to the Round Table for now. But since the weather
has been nice, we might plan tabling in GG Park some Sat. or Sunday.
We might focus on a city proposition, for example.
