OT: Self-defense seminar

Dear Chris,

What are the guidelines for "OT" emails?

For example, may I list:
1. My Learning Annex class (www.learningannex.com),
"Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life," which I teach
the second Sat. AM of every even month,
2. My best-selling book, _Three Minute Therapy_
(www.threeminutetherapy.com), co-authored with libertarian
David Ramsay Steele (author of _From Marx to Mises_),
3. My San Francisco psychotherapy practice, which I conduct
in person or by phone?

Best, Michael

We don't currently have any guidelines.

General Internet guidelines are:

1) If the post could reasonably be considered to be of interest to a
reasonable portion of the readership, that's OK. [In this case, I
considered that self-defense would be of interest to libertarians. It
might well be considered that your items above might also be of interest,
or that libertarians might be interested in directing some business in a
libertarian direction.]

2) Note that the post is, strictly, off-topic.

3) Don't harp on it. [So, for example, mentioning your psychotherapy
practice once in a great while would probably be OK, but posting daily
reminders would probably not be.]

And finally, we are all responsible adults who believe that society can
operate moderately well without a government telling us what to do. Let's
try to prove that that can work. (-:

Actually, I think there should be an option.

1. You can post the occasional off-topic post, or

2. You can have all your off-topic info in every single email you
send via a signature file that's twelve lines long.

But I think doing both would be too much.
