OT: Re: Police body cameras - SF Police Commission "Action" Meeting / Press Conference 5pm Tomorrow, City Hall

Alan,

Thanks for following up, meant to do so sooner myself, November went by like nothing! I did get an email notice of the meeting
this time -- received this from them on November 25 (sorry didn't forward when it came in):

From: "SFPD, Commission (POL)" <SFPD.Commission@sfgov.org>
Date: November 25, 2015 10:17:38 AM PST
Subject: Dec 2 2015 Police Commission Agenda

San Francisco Police Commission
1245 Third Street, 6th Floor
San Francisco, CA 94158
(415) 837-7070

I'm writing an op-ed piece which I hope to finish this afternoon, and a press release to announce a press conference as follows:

WHAT: Civil liberties advocates speak out on proposed SFPD body camera policy
WHEN: Weds., Dec. 2, 5pm
WHERE: In front of City Hall (Polk Street between Grove and McAllister)

A die-in could be powerful if we get a good turnout, but even if there's only a handful of us, I like the idea of symbolically laying down on the ground for a minute at the end of the press conference. Maybe someone could even chalk around our bodies.

This will be a chance to outline for any media folks present (hopefully putting out the press release via email tonight will draw a few) some of the specific changes we're looking for the Commission to make in the draft policy, so that when the meeting is over they'll hopefully be able to give a bit more context to their reports, e.g. "civil and human rights groups got most of what they were looking for tonight" or "civil and human rights groups did not get most of what they were looking for tonight", so that the public will then have a better idea of how things are shaping up from a civil liberties perspective.

I can represent for the Bay Area Civil Liberties Coalition and LPSF. Can any of you join me in speaking, and should I mention any other organizations in the press release?

Love & Liberty,
                                ((( starchild )))

P.S. - For anyone who can go, there are also some important civil liberties events happening in Berkeley tonight (a march from the "Liberty City" homeless camp at City Hall to the City Council meeting to stop the protesters being evicted -- see forwarded email at bottom of this message for details).
