Their segment for last night's news, in which I am very briefly interviewed, can be seen here: http://cbs5.com/local/prostitution.sex.measure.2.775062.html I wish I had a piece of software that would let me download video, I'd like to put it on YouTube; who knows how long the station will leave it up. If anyone is able to do that, please let me know. I was hoping for a little more camera time than the one sentence they gave me, but at least they showed me making one of the key points, and overall the segment was terrific for the campaign because all the people they interviewed on the street basically agreed with us! They also mention the Erotic Service Providers Union by name. I was a bit worried when interviewer Don Knapp (sp?) asked me where they could find street prostitution -- that was when I told him the other point they mentioned me making, that most prostitution is online now, not on the street. The last thing I wanted them doing was going out and filming prostitution on the street and portraying it as a problem in some neighborhood or something, which would be a typical TV news depiction of the issue. But I think this time they really weren't out to sensationalize us or take a law-and-order line. Kudos to the local CBS team.

Very articulate in that brief clip, Starchild, and very deft handling of
the questions. Thanks for your great work on this.
Thanks, Mike! Just as a reminder to everyone of the media publicity potential of doing something significant for liberty on this issue, let me summarize the media attention that I'm aware of so far since we qualified for the ballot on Friday:
-SF Chronicle article by Erin Allday based on interview with Maxine (Saturday July 19, p. B1 - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/07/19/BA6011RI18.DTL&hw=prostitution&sn=001&sc=1000)

-CBS TV segment discussed below (http://cbs5.com/local/prostitution.sex.measure.2.775062.html)
-Westwood One Radio Network interview with Eric Brenner; brief segment aired on 560 AM KSFO and probably on other stations (Saturday night, July 19, 10:03, 11:03 p.m. - I taped this on KSFO)*
-Sex Worker Radio interview scheduled for 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (you can listen at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/swopeast, where there is a teaser published)

A number of the above links, including the ones marked with double asterisks (**) allow readers to comment on stories (in some cases you have to register, but it's typically a fast process and you don't have to give your real info if you don't want except an email address in some cases). Supporters are encouraged to weigh in and support decriminalization. Better yet, find the publication's address for letters to the editor and send them a letter! Hopefully we can show people in other communities that prosecuting people for prostitution causes more problems than it solves.
I also got an interview request from the local NBC TV affiliate, which unfortunately panned out when they had to go cover a breaking story in Antioch. I think they told me they got the news "off the wire," i.e. probably saw one of the reprints of the AP story. And I did a SF Bay Guardian interview with Maria Dinzeo last week which could possibly be used in this coming week's Guardian.
