I found Doherty's book a little hard to get into, perhaps just because
so much of the history, at least as surveyed in the opening chapter, was
familiar. But I suspect most readers will find enough new to make it
worthwhile. My favorite part:

Hamowy recalls an excursion to a horror movie whose villain was a
man-eating tree. Rothbard relentlessly cheered the tree. "The people
he ate were aggressors," Rothbard insisted. "They kept trying to set
the tree on fire or chop it down, when the tree hadn't done a damn thing
to them!" (p. 253)
