Even as media in the United States has greatly expanded, with cable, the Internet, and the "24 hour news cycle", it seems there is a recent trend -- accelerated under Obama -- for U.S. presidents to spend less and less time talking with the press, and to reward and punish outlets deemed friendly or unfriendly. Does it matter, and if so, will public pressure be able to correct these circumstances, or do they need a law requiring them to answer questions frequently and even-handedly?
