Needless to say, the next time any so-called "libertarian" asks LP members to support Tom McClintock, I'm going to throw this back at them as proof that Tom McClintock is no libertarian. He's a socially conservative Republican. And a really nasty and mean-spirited one, at that. Anyone who has ever made the mistake of donating to one of his campaigns in the past should send him a message telling them how disappointed they are in him.

*NO ON PROP. 8 LEADERS RESPOND TO MCCLINTOCK QUOTE*
/Campaign Reacts to Despicable Intolerance/
SACRAMENTO – In an article in the Los Angeles Times, State Sen. Tom McClintock today said the following about California’s Proposition 8, which would eliminate marriage for same-sex couples.
"Lincoln asked, 'If you call a tail a leg, how many legs has a dog? The answer is four. Calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it one,'" McClintock said in a statement. "And calling a homosexual partnership a marriage doesn’t make it one."
*Geoff Kors, Executive Committee Member for the NO on Prop. 8 campaign, issued the following statement:*
“Tom McClintock’s comments today are completely offensive to all Californians. These comments show a level of intolerance that is unacceptable in our state. Comparing California’s same-sex couples, many of whom have been together for decades, to dogs is despicable. Tom McClintock, and the other voices of intolerance behind Proposition 8 who wish to eliminate fundamental rights, will be soundly defeated on Election Day. Californians understand that voting NO on Prop. 8 will send a clear message that treating any person differently will not be tolerated.”
