Report: Military may have to quell
domestic violence from economic collapse
Deepening economic strife in the US could lead to
civil unrest and violence that would require military
intervention, warns a new report from the US
Army War College.
"Widespread civil violence inside the United
States would force the defense establishment
to reorient priorities in extremis to defend
basic domestic order and human security,"
writes Nathan Freier, a 20-year Army
veteran and visiting professor at the college.
A copy of the 44-page report, "Known
Unknowns: Unconventional 'Strategic
Shocks' in Defense Strategy Development,"
can be downloaded here. Freier notes
that his report expresses only his own
views and does not represent US policy,
but it's certain that his recommendations
have come before at least some
Defense Department officials.
A combat brigade already has been given
specialized training in quelling domestic
the permanent Homeland Security response unit that will begin operations this Wednesday
The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team,
which has spent three of the last five "in Iraq patrolling
in full battle rattle," has been "training for the same mission
– with a twist – at home," reported the Army Times.
Remember – the Pentagon's new Modernization
Strategy emphasizes the role of brigade combat teams
(or BCTs) in deployments among targeted populations.
In the case of the 3ID 1BCT, the new mission for the
next year will be serving under the US Army North as
an "on-call federal response force" to deal with
contingencies ranging from natural disasters to terrorism
to ... widescale civilian rebellion.
This article from William Grigg gives more details
on the slow inch by inch step by step process
for military rule by a fascist junta.
He also has several detailed articles about the
militarization of local police departments.
See his archives for those articles and more
on military rule of the US.
And lets not forget those ready to go FEMA
Concentration Camps or as they said duirng
WWII - Relocation Centers. Which Japanese-
Amercans were forced into at bayonet point
by the US Army.
It can happen here again.
