Mexico legalizes possession of heroin, LSD, meth, cannabis, and cocaine [New York Times, Aug. 21, p. A12(!)]

Mexico legalizes possession of heroin, LSD, meth, cannabis, and cocaine for personal use, and the New York Times prints it as a tiny Associated Press story on page A12. This is a good one to cite if you're trying to convince someone that the mainstream establishment media tends to have a pro-government, statist bias.

Greetings from Mexico City where the news of this is big. And the reason cited for doing it is because of the corruption of the police targeting tourists and minor users to attempt to extort huge sums of money for their release.

On July 1, 1943 (if I remember rightly), the New York Times carried the headline "1,000,000 Jews Killed" on p. 11.

And Argentina's Supreme Court ruled today that it is unconstitutional for the police to punish citizens for smoking marijuana.

How many U.S. newspapers reported this story on their front page?

From the article: The Argentine court ruled that: "Each adult is free to make lifestyle decisions without the intervention of the state."

Apparently, the "Land of the Free" is located in the southern hemisphere.
