Dear Executive Committee;

May we have what the foundation was for the committee decision? It would be nice to know what were the traits or capabilities or whatever which was used for the unanimous decision.

Please just executive committee member responses for this particular question.

Thank You

SF Libertarian

One reason is that at the last LPSF meeting, there were a number of people
interested in recommending Hallinan, and no one at all interested in
Harris. Although under our by-laws, only the ExCom could make a decision,
we tried to do what we felt the membership wanted.

For me personally, I think I know what Hallinan believes. While he's not a
Libertarian, he has worked to find non-jail solutions to victimless crimes,
and has gone after corruption and police abuse. (And incidentally, he's
saved a lot of money through the diversion programs, both in prosecution
and incarceration costs, and in a much lower recidivism rate than other
counties.)

Harris... well, I have no idea what she actually stands for. Her close
connections to the city establishment are noxious, and her constant
exaggeration of her record makes me not trust anything she does say, and
she doesn't say much of substance.
