LPSF Meeting 9/10/05 Open Items (3 Upcoming Events)

The cannabis patients rally at which I'm scheduled to speak (among
others, along with bands) happens September 30 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
at Civic Center Plaza in front of San Francisco City Hall. See
http://hempevolution.org/images/rally/patients_rights_rally_050930/
patients_rights_rally_050930_72.pdf .

Here are a couple other events of interest coming up which were not
mentioned at the meeting:

- The libertarian Independent Institute in Oakland has a debate titled
"Immigration Wars: Open or Closed Borders for America?" happening from
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Admission is $15, and they're
located at 100 Swan Way off Pardee Rd., which is off Hegenberger Road
in Oakland (near the airport). See
Immigration Wars: Open or Closed Borders for America?: Events: The Independent Institute .

- The Pacific Research Institute is hosting a big, expensive dinner
gala on Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m, with P.J. O'Rourke
and former CA governor Pete Wilson, among others. The $300 cost
includes dinner (better be damn good food!). I won't go at that price,
but have inquired to see whether it's possible to go and only hear
O'Rourke for a more modest sum. If anyone does plan to attend, I hope
you might be induced to take some LPSF membership forms with you and
try to get them into the hands of any fellow attendees from San
Francisco. This should be an excellent place to find donors. See

Hi All,

Spirited meeting tonight. We had to make some difficult decisions,
with each one present seemingly wanting a different outcome than
those sitting on either side! Thank you all for hanging in there
until the decisions were made and action could be taken.

Here are the main open items:

1. For those not present at a meeting but wanting to read that
meeting's minutes, Bryce Bigwood will provide a password to access
the lpsf.org archives. Please e-mail Bryce if you do not yet have a
password.

2. Justin Sampson announced that the next LPSF Newsletter will be
mailed out immediately after the next LPSF meeting of 10/8/05. Please
send Justin your announcements, articles, advertising (please e-mail
Justin for advertising rates).

3. October 1, 3:00 pm social at Bryce Bigwood's home. Bryce had to
cancel the LPSF get together of September 17. However, he kindly re-
scheduled for October 1. More details later.

4. October 14, 6:30 pm: LPSF will co-host a vegetarian dinner at the
Bok Choy Garden Restaurant. More details later.

5. September 30, around 5:00 pm (Starchild will provide firmer
details): Marijuana decriminalization rally at City Hall; Starchild
will be one of the speakers.

6. LPSF membership present at the meeting voted not to join the LP
CA Membership Acquisition and Retention program (and save the $30.00
that would be due to LP CA for each new member acquired as a result
of LP CA effort). The responsibility of LPSF membership retention
and acquisition is now solely that of the LPSF. However, as an LP CA
affiliate, the LPSF shares dues with LP CA on a 60/40% basis. We
will need to expand our outreach efforts considerably, especially in
the light of dues going up to $50.00 starting October 1.

7. To advise our membership of the impending dues increase from $25
to $50, I am sending a letter out on Sunday 11th (assuming my
postoffice will be open on that Sunday as usual). Thank you very
much to those who provided input in composing the letter, especially
Starchild and Justin. The letter and the application form are up in
the Files Section on PDF format.

Regards,

Marcy
