Since we seem to be focusing on holding our next convention in the Bay Area, if anyone has any ideas for suitable venues in the region where such an event could be held sometime around May 2017, I encourage you to join our call and let us know (or respond to this email) and bring them to our attention. The more details you have about costs, the facilities, etc., the better (see "Convention Checklist" questions below).
The possibility of getting free use of a government building in which to hold our convention is also of interest, if anyone has more information on that (I plan to make inquiries myself).

Dear LPC ExCom,
Sorry to report that the bid to the hold the 2017 LPC Convention in Sacramento on the Delta King riverboat has been withdrawn.
Boomer and I have made some quick inquiries with 4 hotels (3 Marriott's and 1 Hilton/DoubleTree) which we intend to evaluate on Wednesday evening with a goal of providing a recommendation to the full ExCom.
The 3 Marriott's are located in San Jose, Santa Clara (preferred), and near the SF Airport and the DoubleTree near the San Jose Airport. We've held at 3 LPC conventions there (DoubleTree) in the past. The Santa Clara Marriott has been the site of many JSA Conventions that many Northern California activists have attended.
We plan a 8 PM tele-conference call on Wednesday evening to further evaluate these bids and make a recommendation.
