LP Weekly Update:
Here's a run down of this week's news with the Libertarian Party!
Battle for the nomination
Our newly launched program, Liberty Decides '08, definitely has our members talking and taking a look at the candidates who are seeking our presidential nomination. The program has raised more than $37,000! We'll be stepping it up a notch starting next week with a series of Web chats starting with presidential contender Wayne Allyn Root. The chat is scheduled for December 11th at 8 p.m. eastern. The following week you'll have the opportunity to chat with presidential candidate Michael Jingozian. Check LP.org on the 11th for access to the chat room. Also, don't forget to keep tabs on Liberty Decides '08 and give a donation to show support for your favorite candidate. Click here.
Carrots and politics
The question on Buns and Chou Chou's mind when talking with Libertarian National Chairman William Redpath was if, as a supporter of the Second Amendment, he had ever been rabbit hunting. Why? Well, Buns and Chou Chou are rabbits. Taking a break from the seriousness of a political conference, Redpath sat down with Rabbit Bites (www.rabbitbites.com) for an interview about the Libertarian Party. National Committee meets for budget discussion
This weekend, the Libertarian National Committee will be meeting in Charleston, SC for a quarterly board meeting. The meeting's main focus will be on the budget for the upcoming year, but time will be available for public comment. Feel free to join us on Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Embassy Suites in North Charleston.
LP in the media
Media interest in the LP is growing. This week we were asked to join a discussion on Delaware radio regarding EEOC policies. Next week, we'll take to the airwaves again on a Denver NPR affiliate to discussion our upcoming convention. Also, if you're a USA Today reader, you might have seen LP Executive Director Shane Cory's name pop up. The Nov. 29 article on Ron Paul quoted Cory as saying "there are many Libertarians that hope [Paul] comes home." To read the full article, click here.
Tick - tock, tick - tock, are you an active member?
Did you know that December 31st is an important LP deadline for your state party? That's the cut-off date for delegate allocation for our National Convention. In simple terms, the more members your state party has, the more influence they will have at the convention! If you're membership has lapsed, make your state proud and renew today by clicking here!
Libertarians to take over Denver
Quicker than you realize, the 2008 National Convention is approaching. This year's convention will be held at the luxurious Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown Denver, CO. The convention is less than six months away, so act quickly to take advantage of the great room discounts. This year's convention should be one of the most exciting yet, as the race for the presidential nomination is officially on! For details of the event, please visit www.lpconvention.org.
