Libertarian Petition Vs. Boortz Speaking at LPCON

This is a petition where libertarians and LP members can demand

Neal

Boortz
be disinvited from the LP Convention because of his support for the

Iraq

War
and Occupation and for the Patiot Act, including FBI spying on peace
activists -- some of whom are libertarians. Please sign ASAP so

that

it can be given to LNC members at next weekend's LNC meeting.

Y'all,

I messed around with a bunch of petition services before coming back
to petitionsonline.com. Some of them claimed flexibility, let you
create the petition, then try to charge you to do things as simple

as

publicly display the list of signers. Others weren't even as robust
as petitionsonline.com.

In any case, the petition is now available at:

http://www.petitiononline.com/noboortz/petition.html

... so we have about a week to get signatures before the LNC

meeting.

Michael,

If the petition focused only on Boortz's support for the Patriot Act, and merely demanded that he not be introduced as a libertarian, or that he not speak on that topic, I'd sign it. I can't see any libertarian rationale for supporting the Patriot Act.

But I'm uncomfortable with any suggestion that supporting the removal of Saddam Hussein's government in Iraq should be cause for being disinvited from an LP convention. I supported that action myself -- if I were scheduled to speak at the convention, would you want to prohibit *me* from appearing? I could understand you not wanting me to give my personal views on the topic of Iraq, but that's different from wanting me not to speak at all.

Yours in liberty,
