Letter to Gavin Newsom

Dear Starchild;

For the record there are some 400 city administrators making over $100,000. Why are there so many making over $100,000? And why can't the lot of them be Riffed ( Reduced In Force)? That's a savings of some $40 Million not counting benefits and pension contributions.

Then you can also Riff their executive assistant or assistants depending on how bureacratic they were in building a fiefdom at the tax payers expense. This should also apply to all the members of the board of supervisors - as far as voluntary pay cuts. How many of them have publicly annnounced they are taking a pay cut in solidarity with all the other high paid executives?

Perhaps a e-mail campaign to all the supervisors asking them when will they join the program??? Just don't hold your breath waiting for a response.

Ron,

  An email campaign to the Supervisors is a good idea. Have you emailed the mayor yet? Here are the addresses for the Supervisors (I'm guessing on the new District 2 Supe). Let us know if you get any responses from your emails, and I'll do the same.

1. Supervisor Jake McGoldrick <Jake.McGoldrick@...>
2. Supervisor Michela Alioto-Piers <Michela.Alioto-Piers@...>
3. Supervisor Aaron Peskin <Aaron.Peskin@...>
4. Supervisor Fiona Ma <Fiona.Ma@...>
5. Supervisor Matt Gonzalez <Matt.Gonzalez@...>
6. Supervisor Chris Daly <Chris.Daly@...>
7. Supervisor Tony Hall <Tony.Hall@...>
8. Supervisor Bevan Dufty <Bevan.Dufty@...>
9. Supervisor Tom Ammiano <Tom.Ammiano@...>
10. Supervisor Sophie Maxwell <Sophie.Maxwell@...>
11. Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval <Gerardo.Sandoval@...>

  I think it's mildly amusing that they are using a ".org" suffix for city officials rather than ".gov" -- do they have pretenses of being just another struggling nonprofit organization? By the way, where did you get the figure of about 400 city administrators making over $100,000? Do you think you could research some hard data on this for us?

OK, it's Michela Alioto-Pier, not "Piers." Email her at <Michela.Alioto-Pier@...>.

Dear Starchild;

The figure of 400 came from the article in either the Chronicle or the Examiner about the pay cut Gavin was taking. I do not know if it was a Newsome quote or a reporter quote.

Perhaps the Mayors Office would have better figures on the total of city executives making over $100,000. The only other way I would know is to review the City Budget.

Ron,

  I've asked Gavin Newsom to send me the data. Will you likewise contact his office and ask for it?

Thanks,

Dear Starchild;

As I have heard people from Boston say - Eeee Yup ( That's a Boston yes ). Also The Independent issued 2/3 had the same figures of some 400 city executives earning more than $125,000.

I also e-mailed the supervisors on whether or not they were doing a voluntary pay cut in solidarity. I got 5 auto-response but nothing yet from the other 6. I am not holding my breath while I wait for any further responses.
