Kitty Houghton

A friend of mine was murdered recently, stabbed to death. Her name was Kitty Houghton. We were members and officers of the Marin Ninety-Nines together. Had she been packing this might not have happened, but she lived in Marin County, California so, naturally, she was not able to obtain a concealed carry permit. Even if she had, she would not have been able to carry in another state due to the despicable lack of reciprocity, so she was completely defenseless against the assailant.

Hi Nina,

I'm so sorry to hear of Kitty's death.

I live in Marin and am curious: where did it happen? Was it a domestic dispute?

Warm regards, Michael

Hi, Nina:

I'm extremely sorry for the death of your friend. The link you gave returns a Page Not Found error for me; I found the following link to the British Daily Mail:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2270504/Catherine-Kitty-Houghton-slaughtered-New-Hampshire-hotel-lobby-man-met.html?ito=feeds-newsxml. The murder sounds bizarre: It was in a hotel lobby-you would have thought there were other people around who might have intervened-and the assailant was a complete stranger. Have you learned any more about the circumstances?

It looks like it happened in New Hampshire...

Mike

That is correct. I have heard nothing more about the circumstances. Maybe a gun or even pepper spray would not have helped her, if she was ambushed. That was just my immediate reaction, that feeling of vulnerability to attack and being utterly defenseless because of a government that thinks all should be disarmed except, of course, them.

Nina

Nina,

Thank you for your clarification. I mistakenly assumed that because she lived in Marin, she was murdered there.

Warm regards, Michael
