A friend of mine was murdered recently, stabbed to death. Her name was Kitty Houghton. We were members and officers of the Marin Ninety-Nines together. Had she been packing this might not have happened, but she lived in Marin County, California so, naturally, she was not able to obtain a concealed carry permit. Even if she had, she would not have been able to carry in another state due to the despicable lack of reciprocity, so she was completely defenseless against the assailant. http://www.unionleader.com/article/20130129/NEWS03/130129008
That is correct. I have heard nothing more about the circumstances. Maybe a gun or even pepper spray would not have helped her, if she was ambushed. That was just my immediate reaction, that feeling of vulnerability to attack and being utterly defenseless because of a government that thinks all should be disarmed except, of course, them.
