Even neocon media pundits like David Brooks were disgusted, calling
Jindal's speech "a disater for the Republican Party." This, part of
an ongoing series of disaters.

After a long-winded, self-serving introduction, Jindal brought up
anecdotes of bureaucratic bungling during Hurricane Katrina. Ummm,
Bobby, it was YOUR republican-run FEMA and DHS who were responsible
for that. It was the blackshirts in FEMA who prevented private relief
agencies from entering the city-- resulting in further losses of life-

Eric,

there is no anecdote Jindal could have made that would have dissuaded a true
libertarian of the notion that there is a no such thing as a bureaucrat
capable of re-making the federal government into a superhero like
organization, capable of swooping down and fixing a natural disaster on the
scale of Katrina, Oh......and to do it in a manner capable of satisfying a
minority group of democrats in an election year.

So exactly what does this leave you..?

Are you saying that the Democrats (with a Federal Bureaucracy a trillion
dollars bigger), can now wield a more effective jack booted Fema mob..???

I think you are in fact blinded by this notion of neocons..?

Glenn, you're hysterical. Calm down. I never said that the Democrats
could run FEMA any better, only that the Republicans, who pose as
believers in the free market actively blocked private agencies like
the Red Cross from entering New Orleans, and in fact---despite their
boasting about the 'right to keep and bear arms' and 'private
property' actually encouraged their thugs to confiscate weapons and
seize and enter homes property without due process. They forced
people out of their homes at gunpoint, and in spite of their supposed
belief in a 'free press' controlled media coverage of Katrina
tightly.

FEMA's mismanagement and political grandstanding cost nearly as many
American lives in New Orleans as were lost on 9/11. In fact, in my
opinion, DHS director Michael Cherthoff, FEMA Chief Michael Brown,
and Mayor Ray Nagin should be indicted and tried for Crimes Aginst
Humanity for their role in the Katrina horror.
