The right-wing media has been fulminating over Iranian President Akhmedinijad's public statement, in front of American diplomats and in New York no less, that Junior and Cheney were likely implicated in the 9/11 attacks themselves. The American delegation stormed out, whether in indignant protest or guilty shame was not specified.
Akmedinijad merely said out loud what many of us already believed. A FOIA request, buried by the US media but circulating throughout the European press, shows that Cheney and Halliburton were plotting to divide up Iraqi Oil resources before the 2000 Election.
Nor should it surprise anyone that it was recently 'discovered' that Afghanistan contains vast untapped mineral resources. Surprising that our CIA didn't know about these resources, which the Soviets reported on in 1979. It's also quite convienient that Osama bin-Laden and al-Qaeda were fingered as suspects just minutes after the 9/11 attacks, though there was hardly time for a thourough investigation. Interestingly enough, too, the same CIA which couldn't find the Afghan mineral deposits, Osama bin Laden, or the Iraqi WMDs positively identified all 19 hijackers as al-Qaeda operatives, even though the hijackers bodies were never obviously never recovered, nor any witnesses.
I hope the Euro-press will stay on this. The Europeans have done more to expose the Kennebunkport Mafia than our press ever will.
