I wanna rouse some rabble! - STOP THE WAR RALLY

Dear Marcy;

Okie Dokie a peaceful protest - so then how about the opposite of a violent effigy buring protest - although how burning an effigy is something violent -

do a silent march and protest - just hundreds of thousands of peace loving protestors - quietly marching and gathering in front of the federal building by the hundreds of thousands and not saying a word - just standing there in silent protest - just a solid block of humanity and no wordy speeches - just the sound of silence???

Dear Ron,

Excellent idea!!

Ooops my first message got botched up; so here goes again.

Dear Ron,

Thank you for the suggestion of slash and burn! However, I think

the

Stop Funding the War Coalition voted from the start to have a
peaceful rally, such as "the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances." I supposed

the

idea is to walk the walk; if you call for peace, it would seem to

me

strange to do it through any kind of violence. But, that's just my
opinion.

Marcy

Ron,

That's a good idea -- silence makes a powerful statement. You do want the speeches and such too, but I think an extended period of silence, like for five minutes, could be very effective as part of the event.

Hi Starchild,

Your idea to have a few minutes a silence is a stroke of genius. I
would like to offer your idea at the SFTW meeting tomorrow (Golden
House Restaurant, 366 Goldent Gate Ave, S.F. 7:00pm).

Regarding your question about a Libertarian being a speaker at the
Rally, I responded, and you commented on my response already.
Basically, the vote was from the start to have only "high profile"
speakers, and no Libertarian "high profile" speakers who would focus
his speech exclusively on the topic at hand seemed to come to mind.

Dear Ron,

Of course I saw your post about the silence!! Yes, I readily and
completely admit that I should have given you credit for thinking
about the silence first. However, your idea of a rally with no words
is novel, but I will have to give it some thought. Conversely,
Starchild's idea of just a few minutes of silence is something I
consider not only doable but desirable for effect.

No dissing intended!

Marcy,

Thanks... but my most recent comment wasn't about having a Libertarian speaker, rather having a Libertarian MC. This person would introduce the speakers, make announcements, add a few libertarian-oriented comments here and there as the opportunity arises, tell people when they need to stop speaking, etc. Basically be in charge of what happens on stage. If an LP MC used his or her stage presence effectively, it could help counterbalance what I understand to be the current tilt of having a bunch of leftists and few libertarians on the roster.

What do you say, Marc? As lead organizer you're the logical pick for the job, if you're up to it.
