Hewitt for Governor yard signs

Hi everyone,

LP Alameda has a bunch of Hewitt for Governor yard signs left over from the
fundraising event this past weekend. By a bunch, I mean 600. Anyone want 2,
10, or 50 of them?

I believe they raised $1k. All proceeds went to the campaign.

The campaign website still doesn’t have a platform and no mention of the
word “Libertarian” or the LP …

Hey Michael,

Thanks for the link. I took a cursory look and signed up for their email list. I intend to take a closer look this evening, but so far I’m impressed with what I see. They seem like true libertarians through and through, using the “live and let live” as a synonym for the “non-aggression principle.” I particularly like that they mention that even “live and let live” may have good-faith disagreements about what competent adults may or may not do in a free society. In a sense, they may even be more advanced than the Libertarian Party since that is a legitimate concern that, in my opinion, is not discussed often enough in big L circles. We’re all pro-freedom, yes, but that means different things to different people. For example, while I find it a poor choice, I believe people should be free to smoke meth since to me, restricting that option means the person that wants to do so is not free to choose. Obviously, I would hope they would choose to do something less self destructive. Others may see that behavior as self destructive and want to take away that option, arguing that such paternalism is actually liberating the person from their addiction. Does that make sense? So, I look forward to the discussions and learning more about this organization. Thanks again, Michael, for bringing this to our attention.

Thanks for the link. I took a cursory look and signed up for their email list. I intend to take a closer look this evening, but so far I’m impressed with what I see. They seem like true libertarians through and through, using the “live and let live” as a synonym for the “non-aggression principle.” I particularly like that they mention that even “live and let live” may have good-faith disagreements about what competent adults may or may not do in a free society. In a sense, they may even be more advanced than the Libertarian Party since that is a legitimate concern that, in my opinion, is not discussed often enough in big L circles. We’re all pro-freedom, yes, but that means different things to different people. For example, while I find it a poor choice, I believe people should be free to smoke meth since to me, restricting that option means the person that wants to do so is not free to choose. Obviously, I would hope they would choose to do something less self destructive. Others may see that behavior as self destructive and want to take away that option, arguing that such paternalism is actually liberating the person from their addiction. Does that make sense? So, I look forward to the discussions and learning more about this organization. Thanks again, Michael, for bringing this to our attention.

Hi everyone,
LP Alameda has a bunch of Hewitt for Governor yard signs left over from the
fundraising event this past weekend. By a bunch, I mean 600. Anyone want 2,
10, or 50 of them?
I believe they raised $1k. All proceeds went to the campaign.
The campaign website still doesn’t have a platform and no mention of the
word “Libertarian” or the LP …
