Hi Mike and Starchild. Yes, I agree this is a good one for the LPSF. I just signed the petition and signed up as a "Team Member" to help advocate for folks voluntarily renting our their home to earn extra income. Supposedly there is a meeting coming up on August 13 in District 4 or 7, but I couldn't get to the details. If I find out, I will post them.

There was an article in my neighborhood newsletter a few months back about Airbnb and complaints from neighbors in Miraloma Park about folks using their homes as hotels with "people coming and going at all hours of the day and night" and disrupting the "quiet nature of our neighborhood." What a bunch of baloney. (I haven't noticed any such commotion on my street.) The article was written by Doug Engmann, Former City Planning Commissioner and former Member of the Board of Permit Appeals (in other words a government bureaucrat). The hotels are having a fit that they're losing some revenue--too bad, as far as I'm concerned, because they're way overpriced. Again, trying to use government to get rid of the competition. The ballot measure to strictly deal with this "problem" did not gather enough signatures for the November election, but you can be sure it will be back. It had very severe penalties to deal with lawbreakers.
