New Hampshire is not perfect. Portsmouth, where I live, is fairly
leftist; in addition, the police have been running checkpoint stops all
summer. (I haven’t actually encountered any myself, fortunately.)

But compared to San Francisco... man, reading the local paper here is
relaxing. The big local statist moves are: (a) the city Health Officer
exercised a clause in the lease that allowed her to ban uninspected
poultry from the farmers market, which unwisely rented the space from
the city; (b) the city is using eminent domain to acquire land for a new
school. And... that’s about it. I am really hoping the End the Income
Tax measure passes in Massachusetts, so that the Masshole tax dodgers
can move back home. (-:

Indeed. A couple of early trees have just started to turn their leaves,
and though it’s still warm, the breeze off the water is carrying a bit
of a crisper edge these days.
