Fwd (from Neighborhood Parks Council) - Rec & Parks Meeting Tomorrow on Budget and Golf Controversy

Just got this message about a parks meeting tomorrow, if anyone is interested. Personally I don't see any strong libertarian angle on this, but park issues generally and the golf course issue in particular are significant subjects of local debate and the kind of thing we should be on top of as an activist organization.

The problem is, it's hard to know from the information here whether the golf course action they are talking about is a good step toward privatization that should be supported, or the kind of insider give-away that gives privatization a bad name. Even the item on park gardeners and custodian staffing doesn't seem entirely clear-cut -- of course I don't want them spending more taxpayer money or adding to the government employee roster, but if they're already paying these particular employees and it's a question of increasing their hours spent doing actual work, that sounds like a good thing. I think. Maybe not the "park patrol," whatever that is. Probably park department cops rousting the homeless and so on. Opinions?
