FW: It all started with a just a few . . .

Dear All,

Forwarding for those not on the Bob Barr list (if anyone!).

As an aside and my own personal opinion, the National Libertarian and Bob Barr are on the wrong track. Of course it is essential that Libertarians differentiate ourselves from the Republican conservatives, Tea Parties and Ron Paul Republicans. However, the economic issues, in my opinion, are not the way to go, since the conservatives are doing their darnest to differentiate themselves on these same economic issues from mainstream Republicans. To dredge up mainstream Republican economic records is to lend support to the Tea Party/Ron Paul cause. Which is fine with me, but I do not believe that is what National Libertarian and Bob Barr had in mind.

Marcy,

Interesting... I didn't know there was still a "Bob Barr list". I agree with your comments, except I don't think that the national LP has anything to do with this. Barr is no longer on the Libertarian National Committee, and Joe Seehusen no longer works for the party. Can't say I think the party's worse off with them gone.

Love & Liberty,

Sorry for my being unclear, Starchild. By National LP being misguided choosing differentiation based on economics, I was referring to an earlier newsletter sent by LP National (which I believe I also forwarded to this list) which enumerated almost the same points as in Bob Barr's newsletter.

Interestingly I recently also received another "Liberty for America" newsletter, this one from George Phillies, who in my opinion has a much better grasp of the differences between the current conservative movement and Libertarians. For example, Phillies says, "..the Tea Party movement is highly mixed in its views, ranging from sensible libertarians to dupes of ultraright hate radio."

Marcy

Wow,

Phillies got that one right! I think it's good to differentiate the forces behind the Tea Party Movement (I've taken to referring to Ron Paul and libertarians as 'Teaparties' and to Gingrich's Brownshirts who have infilrated it as the 'Teabaggers'.

Speaking of Gingrich's gangsters, I've heard that Barr and most of his camarilla are back to working for him in some capacity---does anybody know about that?
