FW: #HonestBallots Project [2 Attachments]

Activists,

Richard Michael and I have been communicating about this bond issue. It is very interesting as there is a new law on the books that makes it a CRIMINAL OFFENSE to use promotional language in elections to sell bonds. It also REQUIRES that the measure include details about the interest rates, terms of the bond and an exact description of how the money will be used. None of this is usually included.

See this link for an overview. http://www.bigbadbonds.com/CALBONDS/index.cfm

He has a very creative plan to nullify the last elections of where he said nearly 80% of all the bonds passed were guilty of violating this new provision. I don't have time now to provide all the details but can forward them to anyone willing to listen to over 5 hours of conference call recordings covering the topic. He has developed a VERY powerful (if complicated) website to help generate all the required filing paperwork. He has also offered to do the data entry to generate the paperwork for our signature. But we need to provide the offending language and become knowledgeable about our target bond. We didn't have any school bonds on the last ballot but it seems Prop A is a good target. The first step is to go over the language in the ballot handbook. See attachments.

Right off the bat, the "promotion" in the ballot handbook says " The seawall no longer adequately protects The City from tides, floods and rising sea levels. The seawall is also not protected from earthquake damage." It is clearly an exaggerated statement. There is no evidence provided. The Seawall was effective in the 1989 earthquake. And the measure is filled with much more hyperbole. I think we can easily make the case that this bond was presented illegally. As the LPSF was the official Objection, it seems we owe it to ourselves to follow through on this. And it could provide us with some valuable press.

I'm willing to get involved. Starchild offered to help but seems to be away. Let me know if anyone wants to work with me on this. I can probably do it myself but would appreciate a "buddy".

Richard Michael has offered to do the data entry in his site to produce the necessary filing paperwork that I or someone else would need to sign. We need to go over the bond and identify the offending language.

We also need to raise $250 filing fee and maybe some more down the road. I'm willing to contribute $100 and do the work. Can the LPSF and anyone else step up to this and help out?

We gotta start moving on this pretty fast. Also, I'm on a break from work for a few weeks and have some time for now.

Please let me know your thoughts ASAP.

Dear Activists,

Starchild and I just connected. The plan is to meet at my house this Monday. If you are interested in working with us on this bond project, please let us know when you are available. We are available all day and into the evening. I will make provide food and beverages.

Looking forward to hearing your response. I hope you can join us and participate.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for leading the charge on this. Unfortunately I will be out of town until Thursday so I won't be able to make it. I will happily chip in to help with the filing fee.
Nick

Thank you Nick….see you next Saturday.

Mike

Thx Nick...what about the LPSF contributing?

Mike

I would support that. As you mentioned, we are the official opponent on A, it makes sense to follow through with that.

Does anyone have a copy of our rebuttal to Prop A and their response? Trying to avoid a trip to the Library.

Mike

It's not very easy to copy/paste from here, but it's in this PDF of the
voter guide from November, on page 62 (actually page 66 in the PDF).https://sfelections.sfgov.org/sites/default/files/Documents/Voting/2018/N18_VIP_EN..pdf

Starchild said he would be here today and is so far a "no show".

I'll start working on it by myself. Any assistance would be

No thank you. I'm done with the initial work and sent to Richard Michael for feedback to be sure I'm on track.

I guess we maybe spent a little too much time on the phone debating the pros and cons about stopping by City Hall after our work together to research filing rules. Hahahaha

Mike

I've got it in the physical voter handbook too, Mike.

I would be very surprised if John Dennis personally supported Prop. A. If we were to hold every Republican accountable for every position their party takes, none of us could have supported Ron Paul!

Love & Liberty,

((( starchild )))

There was no text from you this AM (send me a copy) and I called three times today to find out what you had in mind without reply. In our conversation you said we should be done by the middle of the afternoon to drop by the Civic Center to look into filing procedures, something I didn't want to do. You said you would let me know today. 8PM didn't work.

Sorry about that.....it's easier to do it myself.

Mike

I just called and left you a message about half an hour ago, before getting online to check my emails. As explained in the message, I had work earlier, then needed to nap for a bit to catch up on sleep and be functional. Just got up maybe an hour ago. Do you still want me to come over?

((( starchild )))

We weren't on the phone that long! I thought you said any time today including evening was okay for you, and sent you a text this morning indicating I'd be ready in the evening.

Here's a picture of the text on my phone that I sent at 9:47 this morning, and the response (which I'd assumed was from you!) at 11:23am (which as I explained in my phone message this evening, I didn't read until later since I was sleeping):

((( starchild )))

IMG_6662.JPG

Yes….I got that. Our next communication was 8PM….clearly too late for planning. I called you 3 times to get details over the day.

It’s OK….I’ll never again rely on “can we keep the time open for tomorrow” plan with you.

I still love you.

Mike

IMG_6662.JPG

There was no text from you with a time. Hard to work with that. Sorry if you feel impugned. It is hard to work with you organizationally.

Mike

You have a very personal sense of what is appropriate organizationally. We will probably never understand each other on that level.

Good night.

Mike

Okay, Mike. You said there was no text from me this AM, so glad to clear that up. I knew I wasn't imagining that I sent one and received a response presumably from you! My next call to you when I left a voicemail was about 7:10-7:15pm. To me that is well within the time frame of "evening" and not too late to plan, but each to their own I guess. I realize you may have been understandably frustrated at not being able to reach me during the interim while I was sleeping; I guess your desire to work together on this wasn't as strong as your annoyance at that. I still care about you too, but your words below make me feel more impugned than loved.

Love & Liberty,

((( starchild )))

"It is hard to work with you organizationally" makes me feel more impugned. You didn't give me a time range either, other than "all day". That gave me no indication that you'd feel calling after 7pm would be too late.

((( starchild )))

I had no idea that I was going to collide with your sense of impropriety or how you feel things are supposed to happen "organizationally", Mike. I thought this was an informal get-together to get some work done, and that there was some flexibility there. When you said you were free "all day", and didn't give any time by which you needed to hear from me, what should someone have assumed from that, in your view?

Your curt "good night" also leaves me feeling hurt, but I'm getting the sense you don't care much about that.

((( starchild )))
