FW: [geo] For what are they preparing????????

This is indeed creepily like the Hitler Youth. They practiced their drills with shovels instead of guns, as though Germany’s coming greatness were to be achieved through agriculture. We talk about disaster preparedness, without specifying the disaster for which millions of rounds of hollow-point bullets would be needed. Not that FEMA hasn’t been of invaluable help in natural disasters.

Does this sound like a German dictator plan of 70 years ago?
Homeland Security graduates first Corps of Homeland Youth
October 7, 2012. Vicksburg . The federal government calls them FEMA Corps. But they conjure up memories of the Hitler Youth of 1930’s Germany . Regardless of their name, the Dept of Homeland Security has just graduated its first class of 231 Homeland Youth. Kids, aged 18-24 and recruited from the President’s AmeriCorp volunteers, they represent the first wave of DHS’s youth corps, designed specifically to create a full time, paid, standing army of FEMA Youth across the country.

On September 13, 2012, the Department of Homeland Security graduated its first class of FEMA Corps first-responders. While the idea of having a volunteer force of tens of thousands of volunteers scattered across the country to aid in times of natural disasters sounds great, the details and timing of this new government army is somewhat curious, if not disturbing.
DHS raising an armed army
The first problem one finds with this ‘new army’ is the fact that they are mere children. Yes, 18 is generally the legal age a person can sign a contract, join the military or be tried as an adult. But ask any parent - an 18, 20 or even a 24 year-old is still a naïve, readily-influenced kid.
The second problem with this announcement and program is its timing. Over the past two years, President Obama has signed a number of Executive Orders suspending all civil and Constitutional rights and turning over management of an America under Martial Law to FEMA. Also in that time, domestic federal agencies under DHS, including FEMA, have ordered billions of rounds of ammunition as well as the corresponding firearms. Admittedly, these new weapons and ammunition aren’t to be used in some far-off war or to fight forest fires in California , but right here on the streets of America .
Strange Armored Fighting Vehicles
Individuals around the US have begun reporting the site of strange, new, heavily-armed FEMA fighting vehicles. What would a disaster relief agency like FEMA need with 2,500 brand new GLS armored fighting vehicles? According to the agency’s own mandate, as well as President Obama’s recent Executive Order, the answer is ‘population control’ during a time of Martial Law.
One set of images made available by Rense.com<http://rense.com/> shows trailer after trailer carrying these new DHS and FEMA armored fighting vehicles, complete with machine gun slots. They’re labeled with the usual backward American flag and the title, ‘Homeland Security’. Below that and the DHS logo, it also reads, ‘Immigration & Customs Enforcement’. Joining those markings, the black vehicles with white lettering also display ‘POLICE/RESCUE’ on one side and ‘Special Response Team’ on the other.

FEMA Corps
FEMA Deputy Administrator Rich Serino gave the keynote address at the ‘Induction Ceremony’ for the inaugural class of FEMA Corps members. According to the DHS website<https://www.dhs.gov/blog/2012/09/14/welcome-fema-corps-inaugural-class>, ‘Corps members assist with disaster preparedness, response, and recovery activities, providing support in areas ranging from working directly with disaster survivors to supporting disaster recovering centers to sharing valuable disaster preparedness and mitigation information with the public.’
Serino describes what the first FEMA Corps class has accomplished so far, as well as where they’ll be going next:
‘Yesterday, we welcomed 231 energetic members into the first ever FEMA Corps class. The members just finished off their first month of training with our partners at the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and are one step closer to working in the field on disaster response and recovery. They will now head to FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness to spend the next two weeks training in their FEMA position-specific roles. Once they complete both the CNCS and FEMA training, these 231 dedicated FEMA Corps members will be qualified to work in one of a variety of disaster related roles, ranging from Community Relations to Disaster Recovery Center support.’
A standing army
Unlike most local disaster response teams who are volunteers, training periodically and only showing up when there’s a disaster, the FEMA Corps will be a paid, full time, standing army of government youth. FEMA Deputy Administrator Sarino goes on to explain, ‘The new members, who range in age from 18-24 years old, will contribute to a dedicated, trained, and reliable disaster workforce by working full-time for ten months on federal disaster response and recovery efforts.’
In closing his announcement of the first graduating class of FEMA Corps Youth, Sarino describes his and the agency’s vision of the future, one where ‘FEMA Corps sets the foundation for a new generation of emergency managers’.
DHS arms itself
As we detailed in the August 28 Whiteout Press article ‘History of DHS Ammunition Purchases<http://www.whiteoutpress.com/articles/q32012/history-of-dhs-ammunition-purchases517/>’, federal emergency management agencies are looking more and more like a military army every day.
The federal government’s procurement website actually lists DHS’ requests for bids to supply it with ammunition and military weaponry. All of the orders listed in the above article, including the orders for hundreds of millions of rounds of ammunition, are publicly available athttp://www.fbo.gov/>.
One look at a chart of DHS ammunition purchases over the past decade reveals a drastic spike in orders of bullets recently, totaling in the billions of rounds. Other charts available online show a similar drastic spike in the purchases of accompanying weaponry by the Department of Homeland Security.
What is the US federal government preparing for? And why does it feel it needs an army of brainwashed youth, millions of guns, thousands of armored fighting vehicles and literally billions of rounds of ammunition, just to provide relief to the American people during a natural disaster? Any historian will tell you it sounds more like the arming of the Hitler Youth than an army of first responders fighting forest fires and hurricanes.

footnote. Democrat or Republican is not the issue here... it is the future of our country that is at stake. Tie this in with the current administration's efforts to take away the rights granted under Second Amendment. Whether or not you own a gun is, again, not the issue, it is the attack on the Constitution that is the issue! Take away the Second Amendment? What is next? The right to worship? People, this is scary and we need to take notice!

Michael,

As best I can tell, the federal government is preparing to kill as many Americans as it wants to kill. Afghanistan and Iraq were practice for what's coming our way.

Evidently, the FEMA Corps / Homeland Youth / AmeriCorp programs are preparation for college degrees of the same nature--more brainwashing in how to humiliate and murder. Here's a quote from a random article I found on the internet:

"The Transportation Security Administration is partnering with community colleges nationally to provide transportation security officers the opportunity to work toward a TSA homeland security certificate and/or associate degree in homeland security or a related field." ..."Homeland security is one of the fastest growing majors today, and TSA is positioning its employees to excel among their peers in the field.”
http://www.stlcc.edu/newsroom/2011/05/News8.html

I believe if George Washington were alive today he'd lead a large group of men to DC and show our leaders one of the many things that can be done with a long piece of American-grow hemp rope. Our elections are rigged and our elected leaders ignore the will of the people; hemp rope and secession are needed now more than ever!

I like the footnote to your article: "Democrat or Republican is not the issue here"...

All the best,

Don

Good "alert" post! Interestingly, there was an article I recently read (where, I already forgot -- age), discussing the continuing trend of local communities and states pushing the federal government to assume "duties" once carried out locally. The article specifically discussed FEMA as first responder. A couple of days ago, N.Y. Mayor Bloomberg stated he will make the federal government pay for all the expenses associated with Sandy, again the trend from local to federal. Coupled with all that, we have hundreds of students struggling to get classes in local colleges and recent graduates with no jobs. Therefore, it appears that the federals are doing the obvious -- not letting opportunities go to waste!

Marcy

There are a couple of other recent stories relevant to your post, which you may have seen. One says that FEMA doesn’t actually do anything to help (it may actually prevent others from helping, as in turning away Wal-Mart trucks from New Orleans), it just writes checks:
http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/19917831/teen-shot-by-police-sniper-parents-talk-only-to-cbs-atlanta-news.

The other shows how local police are using the tools given them by the federal government, in this case sending a tank to deal with a suicidal teen:

Where are they getting the money to do this?

Oh, it is not an expense; they use the federal credit card. BTW local communities and states cannot run a budget deficit, so the feds are happy to pick up the tab, and grow!

Marcy

Amazing isn't it! We know the "teens have the car, the beer, and the credit card" and we just talk about what they are doing.

Teens? I think it's more like the motorcycle gang! What can we do? Agitate, educate, and organize!

Good point, John. Personally, LPSF specifically has DONE a lot lately. However, I see your point, and am thinking about it as I listen to NPR's discussion of the Thelma & Louise situation the U.S. will face in January. I find it interesting that the Tea Party contingent in Congress is DOING by standing firm on the no tax increase (refusing to feed the beast), and getting a lot of invectives thrown their way in the process. Should they not be saying "that's a good thing!" and offering private market solutions? Or maybe it is more fun to play chicken. Go figure.

Marcy

You got a concrete plan?

Marcy

Marcy,

You mean for what we can do here? Well, any impact we can have on national politics at the local level is likely to be *very* limited, but I do have one idea which I continue to think would be worthwhile for us is to start having outreach events in front of City Hall before our monthly meetings (say, an hour prior) as I suggested a few months back (see message below). This FEMA stuff could be the topic of one such manifestation.

Those of you participating in this conversation about FEMA have any interest in meeting up there tomorrow at 2pm and reading some info from emails and articles out over my megaphone on the City Hall steps to anyone within earshot, instead of just preaching mainly to the choir on our email list?

Love & Liberty,
                                ((( starchild )))

Duh!!!!! Cancel the credit card! Take the car away!
The only job they have have is taking your money and driving your car.
When they run out of beer the party is over.

Today, the "reasons and excuses" machine is at full production and they always get the keys and the credit card.

There is no real responsibility on he part of the "adults". The "teens" are running the show with your money. PUT A STOP TO IT! Keep it simple: NO!!

The Tea Party needs to be in on this conversation. I will cc.

Yes. Can we make it 1:00 PM? We have alot to discuss, expecially if our Tea Party folks will show up too.
John

I might be able to attend, depending on how my work goes. Otherwise, see you a 3 PM.

Hi Starchild,

No, I don't like demonstrations. They convey a tinge of desperation to me.

Marcy

I suggested a plan, not a reiteration of what we already know is wrong. And, as I already said, the Tea Party's plan is to refuse to feed the beast. That LPSF is already doing (and has been doing before Tea Parties existed). If we grow in number of activists, there could be more of us participating in that effort.

I do not at all care for Starchild's plan of demonstrating in front of City Hall. I do like his plan of going to City meetings and presenting our views. Unfortunately, Starchild has been the one carrying this out almost all by himself for a long time.

On tomorrow's agenda for LPSF meeting is the presentation of a plan for LPSF, which I am confident will detail specific steps we can take to further our mission to diminish the involvement of government.

Marcy

Hi Marcy,

The United States is on the verge of a police state and economic collapse, and the only candidate in the recent presidential election who understands what's going on and has a realistic and constructive take on these problems received around 1% of the vote. In such circumstances, isn't it *appropriate* to be a little desperate?

If you personally feel unsafe, or uncomfortable, taking part in a demonstration, I can respect your choice. As libertarians, we know that each person has the right to make his or her choices, and none of us are duty-bound to participate in anything. Yet the more we as freedom activists can push the boundaries of our personal comfort zones to do stuff like this, the more powerful and effective we can become. I wonder whether you may have allowed your views on the subject to be influenced by those in society -- often conservatives and persons with what can perhaps best be called bourgeoise sensibilities -- who've made a habit of looking down their noses at those who engage in the honorable, powerful, and important tradition of public protesting. Knowing that they themselves lack either (a) the passion, (b) the courage, and/or (c) the commitment and dedication, and most of all lacking (d) a deep-seated enough dissatisfaction with the status quo, to get out and protest themselves, and perhaps sensing that this may be generally true of most who share their political worldview, they consequently feel threatened by those who are passionate, brave, committed, and dissatisfied enough to give physical, public voice to their dissent, and therefore seek to ridicule and marginalize them.

I don't see you as someone actively seeking to vilify protesters, but could some of the distaste expressed by right-wing talk show hosts and others who are have rubbed off on you? I simply can't see any rational reason why protesting should be used only as a last resort. War or violence, certainly. But protesting is not those things. The most famous champions of nonviolence, Gandhi and Martin Luther King, were well-known for leading public protests.

Besides being attention-getting, protesting as a group can be a terrific solidarity-building and group-motivating endeavor. It is empowering, and can even be fun! I think the LPSF could benefit by doing a little protesting from time to time. The times we live in certainly call for it!

Love & Liberty,
                                 ((( starchild )))

Thanks Starchild….your rebellious activism is much appreciated as the current situation truly sucks. And while Marcy agrees, she wants to make sure that when we all go out in public, we’ve first taken a bath, brushed our teeth, put on our good attitudes and clean clothes. No excuses for getting dirty. Through both of you, the LPSF has a beautiful thing going.

I’ll do some protesting Starchild but can’t tomorrow. Keep me posted.

Mike

Thanks, Mike. I hope Marcy realizes that I do love and appreciate her even though we don't always see eye to eye on how to best advance the libertarian cause.

I'm not sure if this will happen tomorrow or not anyway -- I think we ought to have at least three or four people present, so if John and I are the only ones interested and able to do it, we might be better off waiting until next month. But I encourage us as a group to embrace protesting as a viable tool in our activist toolkit and another way to make the LPSF more visible and influential in the community.

Love & Liberty,
                                ((( starchild )))

P.S. - Let not the R3VOLution founder over trivial concerns about personal hygiene based on exaggerated stereotypes! I'll take a grungy freedom fighter over a clean and well-groomed sheeple or statist any day of the week!

As you said...Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Harvey Milk, Cesar Chavez and many more made a difference and have days/streets named for them because of what they achieved through protest. But they did seem to look good while doing it...something to remember.

Mike
