ELECTIONS COMMISSION MEETING WED. NIGHT @ 7PM TO DISCUSS IRV ON THE 4TH
FLOOR OF CITY HALL
Dear Supporters of Instant Runoff Voting in San Francisco,
This Wednesday night at 7 pm, 4th floor, City Hall, the Elections
Commission will hear reports on implementation of IRV. Most
importantly, they will discuss and possibly approve the Department of
Elections' plan for public education and outreach. It is EXTREMELY
IMPORTANT that community groups and members of the public be
on hand to give feedback about this plan. Public comment is taken
after each agenda item.
Please attend this important meeting. You are the eyes, ears and voices
of the community. Here are the details:
Elections Commission Mtg
Wednesday July 2 at 7 pm
City Hall - Rm 400
I also thought you would want to read about a recent resolution passed by
the San Francisco Ethics Commission supporting implementation of IRV
because of how it will reduce the impact of independent expenditures in
San Francisco elections. Independent expenditures typically increase by
__fourfold__ in the December runoff. The position of the Ethics Commission
is very forward-thinking, and adds an important perspective that often gets
overlooked. The resolution and the commission's press release follow below.
Thanks for your support. Together, we can make sure instant runoff
voting is implemented for this November's election.
