The major element of the Ferguson mess is the multi-dimensional desecration of the community by the police, with desecration of the sanctity of trust, law, sensibility, truth, peace, humanity, tradition.
The police-state is totally insensitive to anything of America and the police are oblivious to their outrageous conduct. It is force and violence. We are lucky that it is still somewhat restrained.
George Washington said: Government is not reason or eloquence. It is force. Like fire, it is a faithful servant or fearful master.
Don't forget what will force you to buy ObamaCare and confiscate your guns. It will not be immigrants.
Wow. Good article. Thanks, John. One thing maybe was left out, though. In the old days police was funded by local taxes, like property taxes; therefore, they responded to local community needs. Now the feds flood local police with cash and armaments, and thus change their response. City councils etc yes, but also a discussion of who pays.
Yes...you speak of a flaw in the criticisms of the police-state, from the big-government proponents.
Ferguson may help to draw a line between national police/military/money and Ferguson corruption. I hope the Ferguson community can get the media attention onto some speaking points that reveal the Ferguson police's metrics of success, as the same as any prison's metrics of success.
