That wording seems to say that registered Republicans can't be LPSF
officers, but I wouldn't interpret it as saying you can't be an LPSF
voting member.

There are actually two separate clauses in the LPC bylaws with
slightly different rules for officers and for voting members:
1. Officers *must* be registered *Libertarian*.
2. Voting members *must not* be registered in any *other* party.
In either case, Republicans and Democrats are disqualified. The only
difference is that voting members can be registered decline-to-state,
or simply not registered, while officers must be registered
Libertarian. (As a special case, someone who is *ineligible* to
register, such as a minor, alien, or felon, can be an officer without
being registered at all.)

Justin
Mark,
I understand your point. However the primaries are for registered Repubs only. Do you know what % we would be of that number?
Many thanks.
Best, Michael
I do not know, but it could not be very much. The Libertarian party is a tool that will play a great part in the future of freedom and we should not abandon it. Ron Paul can be nominated as the Libertarian Party presidential candidate at the National Convention.

In CD 8 only 10% of the voters are registered R.(40,000)
About 40% will vote in the primary = 16,000
There are about 1000 or more Libs almost all will vote.
The Libs obviously can make a big difference in the low R CDs
With the pro war R vote split between the Four Horsemen a few hundred Libs in CD 8 voting for Ron will be important.
We Libs have never had this kind of opportunity and we should take advantage of it.
Switching back to Lib after the primary is easy.

Dear All,
I have up to now refrained from mentioning Ron Paul on these lists,
since these are, after all not Republican lists. However, the
implication on both lists that Libertarians bring nothing to the Ron
Paul campaign and Ron Paul brings nothing to Libertarians prompts me
to comment the following: I have been wearing myself thin (Humm,
that's a good thing) tabling all over the City for Ron Paul -- in the
absence of any Libertarian presidential candidate that even knows what
tabling means; and a good percentage of my fellow tablers are
Libertarians turned Republican for the occasion. Bottom line is that
if Ron Paul wins the Republican nomination, it will be because of hard
core Libertarians; and the mainstreaming of libertarian thought Ron
Paul will bring, will, unfortunately, come from a Republican.
