Materials obtained by the Associated Press through the Freedom of Information Act have revealed that, contrary to their publicly stated rationale, local police asked the Federal Aviation Administration to declare a "no-fly" zone around Ferguson, Missouri in order to keep news helicopters from being able to observe the riots:
