Thanks, guys. Actually I had ample time to collect and write down my thoughts as I was waiting for the other speakers, so it wasn't too on the spot, but I do think I did all right. Was disappointed however to see no mention of me or the LP in the Examiner's front-page story today. On the other hand, if they had mentioned me, they also might have mentioned how overwhelmingly the crowd at the hearing was for the proposal, so perhaps in this case there is some value to having been ignored by the press.
I agree with Marcy that it is vital that we go to more city hearings and such. If we had been doing this, the initiative ideas we've been tossing around would probably be much better informed. I previously suggested the idea of having a program for interns to go to City Hall meetings and report back to us, and I still think this is a good idea. Another possible

Let me add my appreciation to everyone else's, not just for showing up,
and for speaking up, as a minority of 1, but also for the very sensitive
framing of your arguments in such a way as to maximize their appeal to
your hostile audience. That's not easy to do, on the spot, under
pressure; but, without that, showing up, and even speaking up, may not
count for much.Mike

I am adding my thank you also, not only for your having attended this
particular meeting, but for all the effort your always put into working
for freedom. With you, there are no excuses (such as mine yesterday for
bowing out of going); you are there representing our point of view.Thank you also for the detailed report. Yes, it is discouraging that
our representation at public forums is always low or non existent.
For some reason the liberals know that every nation has the government
it deserves, but we do not seem to understand that. So, we get the
goverment, local and otherwise, the liberals dictate through their
greater activism. We need to attend more public forums, and I pledge to me more
responsible in the future.Regards,
Marcy

Another possible idea is to schedule particular Board of Supervisors meetings as official LPSF activities, so that hopefully a bunch of us will go. If too few people have volunteered by a certain date, then add a free lunch or dinner afterward as an incentive for those who do show up.

Dear Starchild;
There are some 67 committees and commissions serving the politicians of San Francisco and by extension hopefully the people of San Francisco.
Somewhere around City Hall there has to be a Master Posting Board of commission and committee meetings posted in advance as required under Sunshine laws.
We need someone who has the time to be who could be a spotter who would daily review these postings and report back to the LPSF as what committee was meeitng and when.
As an example the Ethics committee meeting was changed from its normal time to 6:00 pm - why was this done and when was this done? What input from the public was done in advance to allow people to speak to the time change let alone such a dramatic piece of ordinance.
Another example because of the hotel tax we have been talking repealing. Just by chance I looked at the Mayors Housing Committee and look what I found. I am ceratin the Arts for the Grants people would love to know the Hotel Tax for the arts went went to a politically connected group for housing construction.
Who let that bid and when was it let and who approved it with what construction firm??
