Hi All! As discussed in our meeting yesterday, the NDAA bill is once again up for a vote in our state legislature. This time it's the Senate Appropriations Committee. The bill has fared well so far, but let's keep the pressure on the lawmakers. Please call the folks listed below and let them know you're in support of AB351. 7 easy calls--I made them myself yesterday in around 15 minutes. No need to leave a long, complicated message if you call today or before they open for business tomorrow. I usually state my name, where I'm calling from, my phone number, and a short statement why I think the legislator should vote for the bill. I had to bite my tongue when I left the message yesterday for the last guy on this list--Darrell Steinberg. He's a monster as far as I'm concerned since he authored SB375 and SB1 (which led to Plan Bay Area and its new funding mechanism).
Tim Donnelly’s AB351, a bill which starts the process of stopping “Indefinite Detention” under the NDAA and other so-called federal “laws,” has passed the State Assembly by a vote of 71-1, and the State Senate public safety committee as well. The next step is a hearing and vote in the Senate Appropriations Committee, where the bill is scheduled to be hear at 1:30pm on August 12th
