My understanding is that everyone can take advantage of a one year membership extension at the special rate (before the 1st), even if they recently renewed.

Richard,
Thank you for the 99th clarification! I better get my application in
the mail asap!

Thanks, Rich. I did understand that I could extend for another year now. I'm just not inclined to give more money to the LPC right now.

We discussed this last night at our meeting and we're still confused.
If you renew before September 30, does that extend your membership one
year from your next renewal date, or does it automatically re-set
everyone's renewal date to September 30? According to the latest data
dump, I am paid up through October 2006, so if I renew in the next two
weeks, does that mean I am paid up through October 2007? This needs to
be clarified, or we're going to have a lot more questions (just note all
the messages posted under this topic on this one list).
The consensus of our folks seemed to be that this decision was made in
great haste and the counties really didn't have time to respond.
Aaron's MARA message was sent out over the Labor Day Weekend, and he
gave counties a deadline of midnight September 6 to agree to the MARA
proposal. Our chair was out of town and did not get the message until
after the deadline. Since our newsletter was mailed out on September 1,
we did not have any chance to notify our members about this dramatic
doubling of dues. We have now initiated a telephone tree to call all of
our members over the next two weeks to inform them of the "one-time
offer" to renew at the old rate, but once they hear about the new dues,
we don't expect many of them to bother renewing.
This could be the biggest blunder the LPC has made since the UMP
decision back in 1997.
