I was actually looking for info on median income across countries and ran across this disturbing piece of information that might be useful in the argument for drug legalization:

"Suicide is the most frequent cause of death in U.S. jails. A high rate of 90 to 230 per 100,000 population commit suicide in jail or prison. That is 16 times the rate for the general population.
Most people who commit suicide in jail were arrested for non-violent crimes. 90% of suicides in jails are by hanging and 50% of suicide victims in jail or prison are intoxicated with drugs or alcohol at the time of death. "
