Dear Ron,
Huuuummmm...not a bad idea to do some police outreach by using their
meeting room. I especially like the idea of being able to order the
pizza, which one cannot do at the library.
Marcy
PS I better go have dinner before the lights go out again. Anyone
else having this problem, or is it bad Karma at our house?
Dear Marcy and All Other Ships At Sea Whose Electricity Is Working;
You wrote in part:
Since I was never in favor of the "Free Pizza" ploy, I would also
suggest that we discontinue advertising it. In my opinion, business
meetings of any kind are sleep-inducing to the average guest. I have
always felt that the business meetings should be meant for hard core
activists willing to donate a couple of hours each month to brainstorm
and implement ideas on how to promote the LP.
Perhaps the outreach effort should be directed to inviting interested
parties to events we devise, and to communications by e-newsletter
etc. And maybe the socializing could occur mostly at the Drinking
Freely Meetup. I have no problem with the majority of the Drinking
Freely group not coming to the business meetings; the idea might be
that occasionally a Drinking Freely member would become interested
enough in the LP to evolve into a hard core activist.
I agree. Although we can still do the pizza thing unless we start to
meet at a place where if socializing is wanted and it's near a local
ristorante or pizzeria to go to afterwards hey why not.
As an example the Richmond District Police Station at 6th Ave. and
Geary has a community room for meetings. Yeah yeah yeah I know but we
already pay for it whether or not we like it or not so get back some
of our hard earned tax dollars.
I mention the Richmond station because the newly appointed District
Captain is Capt. Richard Correia who happens to be my next door
neighbor for some 15 years.
He has been with the SFPD for some 28 years - including foot patrol
in the Richmond - Sergeant in Charge of Muni Security - Lt. in charge
of Sex Crimes ( who had some TV/headline grabbing cases of rapists
being caught ) - Night Captain Homicide ( you don't wanna ask
details about ) - Airport Captain - Captain Police Academy - now
District Station Captain.
He has an MBA and is a born and raised San Franciscan a 49er season
ticket holder and watched THE CATCH happen right in front of him at
that very special 49er game jsut before the Super Bowl win. I am
certain he would be an interesting guest speaker.
The 38 geary 1 california 31 balboa 5 fulton and 44 O'Shaughnessy
all go by.. Also within a block is the Taco Bell KFC a couple pizza
parlors and two ristorantes. Not to mention the Clement Street
restaurants a block and a half away. Or we could phone order in if
wanted and get delivery to the station and delivery orders can include
free soda with left overs for the station guys and gals. Hey they
might fix a ticket in exchange for the free pizza.
Put discussion on the agenda of the switch over to a new methodology
and or new venue.

Other agenda items?
Dear All,
During my typing this reply the electricity in our home went puff
three times; the last time causing my reply to completely disappear.
So, if you receive this e-mail 4 times, please forgive me.
I agree with Rob that we need to review our meeting options. Although
I do feel guilty about not ordering pizza at the last meeting, I
personally do not feel that great harm was done, since we were the
only ones in the back room. Were I a restaurant owner, I would much
prefer to have a couple of folks sit for free than to have my place
look like a mausoleum! Of course, the ideal would be for guests to
pay! Thus, our need to discuss our options at the next meeting.
I am not overjoyed with the Treasury committing to a fixed expense
without money coming in. However, I would agree to the necessity of
the Treasury making sure that Milano's receives some base amount each
time any of us shows up for an LPSF meeting.
Since I was never in favor of the "Free Pizza" ploy, I would also
suggest that we discontinue advertising it. In my opinion, business
meetings of any kind are sleep-inducing to the average guest. I have
