DNA Lounge: 20-Mar-2013 (Wed): Wherein SFPD is still going surveillance-nutty.

I left a message for Barry to see if he would partner with us in a coalition to pass a resolution, forbidding extra-judicial activities by government agencies.

John,

By the way, thanks for this activism. I wrote a brochure on surveillance which I hope we may use at some point, and consider it an important libertarian issue.

I note that the blog post also mentions the ABC (state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control) as having a role in pressuring venues to spy on customers, which is relevant right now because there is a current bill in the legislature (AB473, sponsored by Tom Ammiano -- text at http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/13-14/bill/asm/ab_0451-0500/ab_473_bill_20130319_amended_asm_v98.html , history of the bill so far at http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/postquery?bill_number=ab_473&sess=1314&house=A ), which would put ABC in charge of regulating marijuana, which I think is a very bad idea.

Did you ever hear back from Barry with the DNA Lounge?

Starchild,
Thanks for reminding me. I have not heard back and I just left another message. I'll try to remember to keep on it.
