The trans-partisan discussion group Crossing Party Lines will be hosting a free online discussion of a book by libertarian historian Anthony Gregory on Saturday, September 19, from 2-330pm (Pacific time). More details on how to register and participate to come, at [Crossing Party Lines](https://members.crossingpartylines.net/events).

“New Deal Law and Order: How the War on Crime Built the Modern Liberal State” is one of a number of pro-freedom books I suggested to them for possible discussion. (I haven’t yet read it myself, but knowing Anthony, a well-read and strongly pro-freedom local who’s spoken to the LPSF in the past, I’m sure it is interesting and worth reading.)

Here is a link to buy the book, for anyone who may be interested:

> A historian traces the origins of the modern law-and-order state to a surprising source: the liberal policies of the New Deal.

> The Hoover Institution at Stanford University is a public policy think tank promoting the principles of individual, economic, and political freedom.

Folks are also encouraged to ask their local booksellers and libraries to carry this and other libertarian titles.
