Direct Action Forum proposal/Resolution

Chris,

You do realize that you are comparing my critics to punitive-minded
military bureaucrats? 8) Anyway, I don't recall even Rob saying that
Direct Action Forum is a net negative for the party. I don't think the
evidence supports such a conclusion. I certainly hope no one sees this
as a "referendum on my personality" and makes a decision on that basis
instead of on the merits of the issue at hand, either. That would be a
truly petty mode of behavior unworthy of anyone in our group. Like you,
I'd prefer to reach an amicable consensus.

Yours in liberty,
            <<< Starchild >>>

(in part):

But Starchild, I feel like we're in a scene from _Starship Troopers_.
In
the novel (I didn't see the movie), one of the cadets is accused of
some
minor infraction and offered a token punishment - KP, I think.
Instead, he
insists on a formal disciplinary hearing, as is his right. As a
result, he
is formally charged and found guilty, and sentenced to something much
worse
- - I can't remember whether it's a public lashing or hanging.

The sense of the party was clear to everyone at the October meeting -
and
before that - except to you. Folks think that DAF, as it's currently
run,
is a net negative for the party. If run a little better, it could be a
strong net positive. But rather than accept this, you've insisted on a
formal decision, and debating the issue, and so we're in a position of
having a referendum on Starchild's personality. I don't want that, and
didn't want that.

We value your strengths and your energy. Please help us come to a
friendly
resolution that makes the party stronger.

~Chris
