We have the opportunity tio articulate the issue honestly, get the distincting of having done so, align with the right people on the right side, and win.
This is a simple issue. It's about the government violating policy and deceiving the public, in cahoots with special interests and without any accountability.
Whether these conditions are comorbid with others is an unecessary complication and invitation to controversy. Taken in its simplest terms, there is no controversy, except between accountability and corruption.
As you point out, its so sqeaky clean, the Republicans are trying to use it. Next it will be the Democrats, both lining up behind the LP. Political coup 'd etats like this are rare. Why drag it into a lingering defeat in the usual manner.
Raining on your parade is not my intention, John; please believe me. What I have been begging folks to do for the last 10 years of my work with LPSF is to focus on facts, and discard the rhetoric. Oh, you are so right that the Drakes Bay situation is a good opportunity to bring the subject at hand to light. Problem is, the subject at hand is not government's corruption or violation of policy, but the sorry situation of the Faustian bargain that more and more individuals -- rich and poor -- are sealing with the Feds, while the planet goes to h..l, and private individual success is crowded out by government assistance.
I bothered to read the brief filed by high profile sustainable business such as Chez Panisse Restaurant, and I would encourage others on this list to do the same if they have not done so already
OK, so Faust sells out to us. That's a given. Now we own the property, evil or not. And we could grant it out if we wanted but that's not the issue.
So we want the property managed to our best interest and go to great lengths and expenses, to set things up in certain ways.
But some other crazy thing occurs, along the lines of the usual BS that characterizes collectivist solutions. And in the usual way, there is no accountability and things go to hell, taking lots of valuable stuff along.
Shellfish production in Drakes Bay is great idea, standing alone. It should not go to hell according to the terms of some stupid argument.
Ok, we finally (partially) agree!!!!!!! There was an agreement, bur OK to break it. I will try that with my landlord! But I hope my tenants in another part of town do not try that with me!
However, Feinstein and the law suit folks might win the day by finessing the wording in Salazar's mandate, and arguing thar jobs trump wilderness.
Now that we got the REAL issues clarified, by peeling off layers of rhetoric, I will leave you alone......until the next time we need more peeling off to get to the facts!
BTW, how is your committee work with John Light on the Expo Booth coming along? I emailed Catherine Knowles the NDAA resolution she asked for, but have not heard back from her.
