Civility in discussions and plastic bag ban

Francoise,

You make a wonderful point highlighting the lack of hostility and prominence of the civil tone among our members, even during the most heated disagreements. This is rare in volunteer political groups and a joy to behold in ours.

perhaps we would be more productively addressing that
issue by looking at what incentives could be made
available by city government to businesses to change
the bags they provide.

It's not the job of the City Govt to micromanage the business decisions of businesses (or our job to advocate this). Why would politicians be wiser in this regard than the individual business owners themselves?

The best incentives the City Govt could provide for local businesses to flourish would involve ending their cruel taxing and draconian regulating of these markets. Let's advocate this, instead.

Best, Michael

I agree that it is not the City's job to micromanage
business decisions, but since they already have, I was
hoping to get them to minimize the impact on business
owners and ourselves.

I say we just get lots of plastic bags, made of the worst stuff
imaginable, and drive around various neighborhoods, just dropping them
off, and make it known that it will only stop once the city reverses
the law. Torch some houses for added effect, and make the bastards pay.

But I don't think many share my resolve, or are willing to defend
their liberty.

"Torch some houses?!?" Clay, I don't think that's anything the Libertarian Party wants anything to do with. Even in jest or rhetorical exaggeration, such sentiments shouldn't be expressed here. Arson is a very serious crime. I'm sure the authorities would love to pin something like that on Libertarians.

Love & liberty,
