His well-reasoned argument opposing Arizona's SB 1070 anti-immigration law is just as applicable to the ordinance he favors for San Francisco criminalizing people for sitting or lying on public sidewalks -- police can easily use such a law as a "valid pretext" for approaching and questioning non-Caucasian persons, for instance by following certain persons hanging out on the street until they sit or lie down.
