BROWNE REPORT ON WILLIS THE "ART OF LIBERTARIAN PERSUASION"

Ron,

  That campaign report by Perry Willis is from early 2001, before the scandal broke. Of course there were already a lot of concerns about finances in the Browne campaigns. Some of these concerns are addressed indirectly by Willis in his report; I do not remember the details now, but I remember reading stuff from both sides at the time and feeling like the explanations were insufficient.

  In any case, the matter I was referring to came to light later in 2001, and is described here by Liberty magazine editor R.W. Bradford: http://www.libertysoft.com/liberty/party.html. Beyond what is written there, I am not aware of any major developments in the scandal since then. It appears that what Bradford feared has come to pass -- the party leadership has opted to sweep the matter under the rug and "move on" rather than demanding an accounting.

Dear Starchild;

I don't know if this will answer the question you have about the Perry Willis thing but this is from the Browne web site:

Michael,

  How about using the persuasion skills you gain on Michael Cloud and

Harry Browne themselves by trying to persuade them to come clean about
who knew what and who did what in the Perry Willis scandal? They
stonewalled the investigation by LP Chair Jim Lark and are apparently
refusing to say anything more about what happened even though Browne
promised an explanation.
