Body Freedom Action Network & Legalize Toplessness in NH

Hi body freedom lovers! There’s a public hearing on a bill to legalize toplessness in New Hampshire! Testimony can be submitted remotely (see link for easy instructions). It is due on (or before) the hearing on the 19th (this Thursday).

Also, I started a platform for mobilizing support on initiatives like these. Please check out, send me feedback, and consider joining. Thank you!

Dear Jeff,

Bravo. I’m heartened & Awed & Inspired by Your Intelligent Principled Competent Savvy & Clear-Eyed Activism on Behalf of Your Fellow Man & Fellow Women & Liberty.

Among other Libertarian Solutions I care deeply about ( See: LP.org ), I know this issue like the back of My hand. Nonetheless, since You have winter boots ( or bare naked feet in 25º ?!? ) on the ground & know current officials & how to push their buttons, IF You have time to give Me some constructive criticism on this DRAFT, My ears are open & I have a very thick skin as a former candidate in DC). I was hoping to File it by Noon PST, but My Schedule is fairly free if You need more time to review.

God Bless You!
mARTy

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the heads-up. Hope HB 160 passes! Do you have an email address (or addresses) at which to contact the Criminal Justice & Public Safety Committee or its members? I would encourage you to add that info to your online lobbying platform (kudos for making one, btw!)

I think the trend of institutions or those who act like institutions – elected representatives in particular – requiring or pushing people to fill out webforms in order to communicate with them is one that should be discouraged and resisted. Not only do these forms take more time, they are disempowering – you’re submitting content on THEIR terms, and enabling them to harvest data about you, as well not being as readily able to keep a copy of what you’ve sent for yourself, as is easy to do via email – and the forms often ask for info that I would prefer not to give, and won’t let you submit the form without filling out every field (the committee’s form states “All fields required”), making you choose between submitting false information or not submitting anything, if you don’t want to disclose what they’re “asking" for.

In this case, if representatives just receive emails with no address listed, they may assume, or at least think it likely, that the sender lives in New Hampshire, which seems preferable to out-of-state folks like myself telling them that we do not.

Love & Liberty,

((( starchild )))

Although it is all google-able, it is very helpful to add Direct email, telephone, social media handles ( if available ) for Key figures to such Hearing announcements. Electeds are usually not those monitoring those calls ( but they sometimes do ), but their Staff do keep track of hits, calls & engagement which does make an impression over time. Flooding/Jamming an office with calls, although a guerilla tactic ( they don’t always respond when We beg or say “please?” ), is effective more times than not — if only to drown out other voices.

Those of us who have testified Hundreds of times ( because we don’t watch teevee ) in Recorded Hearings & Forums, where there are usually sign in sheets & forms giving verifiable ID info, with Elected Officials face-to-face have basically nothing to hide. They simply collect the data easier online ( & don’t waste as much paper & staff time & OUR TAX DOLLARS as they did previously, but they have always had Our Personal info nonetheless ).

They have databases of registered Voter Names, addresses, telephones, emails at their fingertips & can more easily ID bots & frauds than We an on Our end.

If one is afraid of being Identified in a democracy, You don’t live in a democracy, & shouldn’t bother doing anything but get high on dope.

Before I submit any data to an online form, I draft it on My Computer in a text document, along with Form Input tags, so I have a record along with any Form Generated Receipt responses so I can follow up if & when necessary. Such paper trails are very very useful when holding Elected & Appointed officials accountable.

My Paper Trails on Former DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier nearly got her FIRED ( She sacrificed one of Her pawns instead ). Since they can keep Paper Trails on Us ( at Our Expense ) the least we can do is keep Our Own on them. Text & Word files don’t take up as much file size space as photos & vids, but the latter are super useful too when highlighting Electeds’ & Appointeds’ hypocrisies LIES missteps & other stuff that can easily lead to their removal. These folks are hardly the brightest minds in society; it’s absurdly easy to take them out: The Pen Is Mightier than the Sword in such matters.

NH House Criminal Justice & Public Safety Chair Representative Terry Roy [ @T_RoyNHStateRep, Terry.Roy@leg.state.nh.us (978) 235-2400 ] closed the hearing on #HB160without calling for a vote after only two Supporters Testified ( no opposition … this is a benefit of NOT drawing unnecessary hysterical msmSnews & yahoo attention to a potentially hot topic which should be addressed with rational adults ).

SO, even if not through the formal NH House from which may or may not have time restrictions, interested LIBERTY-MINDED parties Should contact the Chairs [ Vice Chair Jennifer Rhodes, Jennifer.Rhodes@leg.state.nh.us, (603) 762-8069 ] ; & Key Members of the Committee who spoke cogently during the Hearing with LIBERTY-MINDED concerns [ Democrat Rep Loren Selig, @sellwithselig twitter, Loren.Selig@leg.state.nh.us, (603) 271-3529 — who had Legit Concern about Sexist Enforcement, Justice, Equality, Equity under current law ; & Democrat Rep Jodi Newell, Jodi.Newell@leg.state.nh.us — who had Legit Concern about Property Rights & Private Property Owners’ discretion & exemption from existing law & proposed bill ] ; cc’ing Non-Committee Member Co-Sponsors [ Republican Rep. Dan Hynes Dan.Hynes@leg.state.nh.us, (603) 583-4442 & Democrat Rep. Ellen Read, @Ellen4NH twitter, ellen4nh@gmail.com, (603) 292-5376 — who probably will not receive any public commentary sent to the Committee Members ] DIRECTLY with Your Thoughtful Testimony — if not the Entire Committee. Simply as a Follow Up, after watching the Brief 20min Hearing, it’s still very appropriate to follow up with Members with Comments, Appreciation as a way to Remind them to stay engaged & on the proper side of Liberty & hold them accountable.

Good work, Jeff. Practice Your testimony in a mirror in the future, several times — & address them as YOUR ( public ) SERVANTS ( politely but authoritatively ) — to alleviate the nervous jitters. Some folks get starstruck when addressing #TheTemps/Electeds in the spotlight in a formal hearing room & forget that You Pay Their Salaries & can help boot them from their temporary jobs if they Fail to do their Jobs “…For The People” ( ie: You ).

At the 40:34min mark ( just before the #HB160 Hearing ), honorable Former 4-term NH Rep/Committee Member — & chair of the [Libertarian Party of New Hampshire] (Libertarian Party of New Hampshire - Wikipedia), 2000 Libertarian US potus candidate, **director of the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance**, & member of the [Free State Project] (Free State Project - Wikipedia) — Don Gorman urged the Members to consider all the “unintended consequence,” ie: COSTS — to taxpayers & others paying for all the esoteric astronomically costly bureaucracies & brutal thuggish enforcement, of All the dumb laws Legislators approve.

( The average cost to keep someone in jail or prison in NH annually is US$54,386.00¢ The average cost for supervising someone on probation/parole is US$603.00¢ per year. Imagine arresting a Woman for showing Her breasts & then having the state shell out ~US$55k — partially from Your Earnings & Savings — to enforce such a VICTIMLESS “crime.” It adds up. Not to mention having Keystone Cops speeding around at 120mph to try to apprehend, or get a peek, at the offender. )

“What made Me feel UNEASY was that We basically ONLY hear from one ( 1 ) segment of the Criminal Justice Community [ ie: Enforcement ]. … We’re missing something [ which ] is not coming here to the hallowed halls. … I spent HOURS at every state institution — halfway houses, parole, probation, road with fellows, spent A WHOLE SHIFT at the prisons, … racing around at 120mph chasing some purported felon in a police car, in chambers with the Judges. …. I would recommend that Every Member, Ride with police, go to the courts, visit the jails, visit the prisons, state institutions & get a different perspective of what the CRIMINAL JUSTICE element of the State of New Hampshire is really all about.”
— former Committee ( 8 Years … “State institutions Committee” “Criminal Justice & Corrections” ) & four-term NH House Member Rep Don Gorman

Thank you, Marty and Starchild, for your thoughtful suggestions!
