Hi All! I won't go into my usual long email about last Thursday's Plan Bay Area meeting in Oakland. I would say it was a rather huge PR disaster for ABAG. Best of all, it was all taped so it's all on the record now. One of the members (Steve Haggarty) proposed bringing the whole plan to a vote of the people and the board voted on it. I thought it was amazing that even 9 members voted yes, even though it lost. I think some of the YES votes were from some of the members who would have preferred to vote NO, but since they knew it was being taped, they didn't want to go on record as being against democracy, so they voted YES. Our own Eric Mar voted a strong NO--and Starchild called him on it too. Yes, that's Starchild at the end of the video protecting the final public speaker of the night who ended up breaking up the meeting with a stirring version of "The Star Spangled Banner."
