Ballot Measure Arguments - June Election

Hi All. This is aheads-up; no special action required at the moment. At yesterday’s meeting, we decided on theballot measures that we will be submitting this coming Thursday at theDepartment of Elections for the “free” arguments for the Voters Handbook: Prop A ($350 million bond for “public safety”),Prop C (removes the inclusionary requirement for affordable housing and leavesup to the Board of Supervisors, which is just dying to raise the mandatedpercentage), Prop E (increases the mandate for paid sick leave for allemployers in San Francisco), and Prop AA (regional parcel tax “to clean up theBay”). Starchild may also tackle Prop B,which includes an increased set aside for the parks. We will be opposing all these statistmeasures. In the event that we do not win the lottery for any ofour arguments, we will be submitting paid arguments on some of these measures, depending on what we may win, funds available, relative importance of eachargument, and the likelihood of other opposing paid arguments. The lottery will be at 2:00 PM this coming Thursday, and paid arguments are due on Monday, March 21 at 11:59 AM. I may be putting out a call for donations forpaid arguments on Thursday night, depending on how the lottery goes. It would be unlikely that we will win thelottery for all 4 or 5 of our arguments, but the odds seem to be that we will winat least one. As you know, the ballotmeasure arguments give us our best exposure and do not please the statists—thisis our time to shine! Please check youremails on Thursday night/Friday morning to see how we did in the lottery. Hopefully Lady Luck will be with us thistime! Thanks!Aubrey
