I'd like to propose a meeting of the Ballot Initiative Committee (see
below). Are there any members besides myself? Phil, Michael E., Marcy?
Was anyone ever appointed to chair this committee? If you want to name
me chair, I'll organize a meeting to select a proposed initiative and
present it at our next general meeting.
Yours in liberty,

Starchild,
I do not know how much more precise I can be! I have previously
suggested that we just go with the curb rights initiative; however,
you correctly suggested that it would be better to obtain commitments
first. I have requested commitments; I do not see any. At the last
meeting it was suggested that the ExCom pick a initiative: I stated
mine (curb rights), but do not see any votes from the other officers,
so far. You asked if I had appointed any one to the Ballot
Initiative Committee...I just appointed you.Marcy

This is all frustratingly vague. It seems to me that we could
potentially debate the merits of various initiatives and ideas
endlessly. There ought to be some kind of precise plan of action --
could the officers please provide some kind of timetable andprocess
that is aimed at actually producing a decision and a ballot measure
in
the near future?
Thank you,
<<< Starchild >>>No need for anyone to be "in charge" of the Ballot Committee (or
any
other project). You, Phil, and Michael E. have been discussing
this
project. I will "join" the Committee if/when I see that the
project
has moved from the discussion stage to the direct action stage. I
will consider the project to be in the direct action stage when a
reasonable number of our core activists (say, six?) agrees on ONE
ballot initiative and commits at least some work and/or money. So
far (and correct me if I am wrong), Phil and I have committedtime to
the curb rights initiative, Mike Denny has committed at least
$500 to
whatever initiative is chosen, and Mike Acree has said he will
not be
able to commit time or money to any initiative right now.
I will again suggest e-mails from our activists committing to one
of
the initiatives on our list; and if there is a concensus, we move
to
the active stage. If anyone wants to include a preliminary vote on
how the choice is to be conducted, fine too.Marcy
