Are we fixed on seeing a glass half empty?

Mike,

I don't think all politicians lie equally. Nor is honesty always the
most important consideration. Between Gavin Newsom and Matt Gonzalez, I
think it's clear that Matt has more honesty and integrity. That doesn't
automatically make him the better candidate because there are other
factors to take into account. But it does make it silly (imho) to talk
of them as if they were equally dishonest. Very rarely do I find when
comparing candidates that they are so equal in every respect that I
have no preference which one is elected.

Yours in liberty,

When dealing with politicians, you don't have to guess because you know
they are lying. You know how you can tell if a politician is lying?
Their lips are moving.

If someone selling email software and services had the same track
record, you wouldn't use them and they'd be out of business. If someone
had a record of selling poisoned food even a little from time to time,
they'd be out of business. But politicians get away with it time and
time again. WHY? You don't have to guess Steve, you can be sure of it.
And that's what makes choosing politicians much more uncertain that
choosing anything else you rely on. Does that help you?

Mike

I think that you can "guess" about anything. But where does that lead
to?

So when you wrote your email, presumably you "guessed" that it would be
delivered. Were you foolish to make such an guess? When you buy a food
product at the store, you're "guessing" that the producer didn't fill
it with poison. Are you saying that such "guesses" can never be made
in such as way that is better than random choices?

Do you (or Mike E) see your claim that we have no means of making
better than random judgments about people as the best support for your
position?
