Hi All. I would like to thank those who helped out at Pride this year to
increase our presence in San Francisco and let folks know that we are still
alive and kicking: Brent, Nick, Starchild, Richard, and Peter. As always,
we were there to provide an alternative view to the prevailing attitude
that pervasive government is better than individual choice, freedom, and
empowerment. In in ironic twist, we were situated right next to the
Sheriff's booth, but we got along well with them, chatted a bit with them,
and they even helped us put our canopy up. The crowd was in a festive
mood, as always, and those who stopped by our booth were at least somewhat
interested in finding out something about Libertarianism. The leftists
scored stronger than us in the World's Smallest Political Quiz this year,
but there were a lot of dots in the Centrist quadrant by the end of
Pride--still lots of work for us to do! Folks were surprised at some of
the crazy laws on the spinning wheel, we gave away almost all the buttons
we made, and Phil's poster from last year was a big hit. Interestingly,
one of the stickers that I bought a few years ago and still had around
saying, "When The People fear their government, there is tyranny; When the
government fears the people, there is liberty!--Thomas Jefferson" was
chosen by a few folks this year--and they were all Libertarians or
libertarians. As I said, still lots to do!
A special thanks to Brent for helping with the setup and takedown both
days. Also thanks to Richard for making an impressive statement to the
radio lady who stopped by our booth for a statement about why we were at
Pride that day--he convincingly explained why ballot access is important
for everyone to have more choices when voting. Thanks to Marcy for
publicizing our presence at Pride behind the scenes and posting on
Facebook. Lastly thanks to Mike Acree for the generous donation.
Thanks!
Aubrey
