Thank you for the link, Ron. I went to the Fix Muni webpage, and enjoyed reading what the initiative wants to fix, primarily requiring collective bargaining, and "eliminate the current City Charter provision requiring the Municipal Transportation Agency to set operator wages at the average rate of the two highest paying transit agencies in the country." The stuff that's on our Charter!!
BTW, I had forgotten that I had added "Fix Muni Now" to my Facebook Groups a couple of months ago. Maybe after you all read the initiative you might want to consider doing the same?

Dear Marcy;
While Les is making the presentation I would recommend that the LPSF adopt this as an issue for us to join in the fun and petitioning by Motion.
This is an issue which fits in with what we have discussed previously in forming alliances with like minded people on issues. Much like the Police Special Patrol we will hear more about on Saturday.
This should be one of them.
The charter amendment made years ago was sold on the basis of making it attractive for the Muni to attract driver applicants. With a no strike clause of course as SF had gone through a Muni drivers strike and even a police strike. With today's employment market that doesn't fly anymore and should not have flown back then.

Dear Ron,
Yes!! I have suggested that Les make his presentation under the "Working with Groups" section of the Agenda's New Business. We have 20 minutes allocated to the subject of working with groups, so we can hear Les's point, discuss, bring up the motion to join in the fun, etc.
What is interesting is that the proponents of this initiative have framed it as "fun". Their outreach almost cries out that if you are not involved, its worse than your not having a dog. My daughter, who seems to live by the newest trends, is the one who invited me to join the Fix Muni Facebook group, which I did!
As an aside, studying Fix Muni's strategy, its integration of all resources, is a lesson to be learned (integration of resources, also on the agenda, but we can discuss it when we have time).
Again, thank you for the link, for focusing what Les was talking about, for suggesting the motion.
